Chabaud’s vanilla
Looking back on the past year’s global fragrance sales, there is one clear ingredient that is driving the scent industry: vanilla. This sweet, comforting and soothing note is centre stage in dozens of bestsellers, at all price points. Part of this success is due to new ways that perfumers are processing and working with vanilla. They’ve developed techniques that create aromas that layered, textured and truly interesting.
One of our all-time favourite vanilla scents is from French niche brand Chabaud. Lait de Vanille is an amber-vanilla fragrance for her or him that opens with notes of confiture de lait, a French spread for bread made from milk, sugar and vanilla, which is especially popular in South America under the name ‘dulce de leche’. The heart consists of chocolate-balsamic notes of benzoin that blends nicely with vanilla and caramel. It is meant to create a sense of well-being. It’s truly delicious.
