Change of Season

When it comes to a change of season in Canada, most people think of clothing. The temperature rise and you pack away your winter coat, boots and scarf. In their place you pull out the shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops. But did you know that it is a good idea to do the same thing with your fragrances. Scent molecules enlarge when heated so warm temperatures can make certain scents in your wardrobe much stronger. This is particularly true with warm ouds, amber-based fragrances and woody compositions. A couple of spritzes that worked in the winter suddenly smells a little overwhelming.

The best approach for hot spring and summer weather is to focus on light, citrus-themed eau de toilettes. These uplifting and clean aromas are designed for use in summer. Look for fragrances with notes of lemon, bergamot, mandarin orange, grapefruit, yuzu, raspberry, and pear. These will make you feel refreshed with one spray.

Aromatic ingredients can also work in summer months. Basil, mint and thyme are light and interesting – and they blend nicely with fruity top notes. One of our very favourite fragrances for spring and summer is Atkinsons’ Mint & Tonic that is elegant, light and refreshing. It works beautifully for both men and women.

Atkinson Mint & Tonic sound like a delicious summer beverage. I love a fresh clean fragrance in the summer. One of the bonuses of being retired you can wear fragrance pretty much all the time.

I would like something very delicate that stays close to the skin, my workplace is scent free so my perfumes are only used on the weekends.
