Introducing Coach Open Road, a new fragrance for men inspired by friendship, adventure and the optimism of a road trip along the American West Coast.

The drive along Highway 1 from San Francisco to Los Angeles is one of the great wonders of the world. The two-lane highway is literally cut into the mountains that drop into the majestic Pacific Ocean where you can frequently spot Humpback and Blue Whales feeding on krill and anchovies. The drive is breathtakingly beautiful as you follow the winding highway as it hugs the mountain peaks that give way to the redwood forests of Big Sur. There are frequent overlooks where you can pull of the road and take photos of the rugged coastline. What’s remarkable about the drive is the landscape has been kept pristine – void of any advertising or developments. It’s completely pristine. Listen carefully and you can sometimes hear the Lion Seals calling out on the white strips of beach.

With such beauty, it’s no surprise that American fashion brand Coach decided to create a fragrance inspired by this drive. Created in collaboration with Director and Photographer Fabien Baron, a long-time collaborator of the house, the campaign for Coach Open Road tells the story of friends in search of adventure as they take a road trip along America’s picturesque West Coast. A cinematic snapshot of friendship, the campaign reminds us that the real beauty of the journey isn’t the destination, but the experiences along the way.

THE FRAGRANCE

The aromatic eau de toilette opens with crisp, refreshing top notes of juicy red apple and sparkling lemon Primofiore, reminiscent of the winds of adventure. These notes are accentuated by an energizing dose of spicy Sichuan pepper, followed by a vibrant blend of lavender and clary sage, transporting us to places so far from our familiar urban landscapes.

Finally, the fragrance dries down to a contemporary duo of patchouli, vetiver and the woody softness of cedarwood, a tribute to the landscapes we cross to reach our next destination.

THE INSPIRATION

Coach Open Road is inspired by friendship and adventure, and the feeling of spontaneity, optimism and endless possibility both evoke. Perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault captures the vivacious spirit of driving down the West Coast in search of adventure, creating a dynamic scent that unfolds scenically over time. The spontaneous energy and nostalgic lens of the campaign reflects the fragrance’s dynamic blend of crisp and vibrant notes.

THE BOTTLE

The bottle is crafted of transparent glass, while the fragrance itself has a grey-blue shade reminiscent of the coastal horizon. It is finished with a gunmetal cap inspired by the house’s iconic turnlock hardware, and an engraved “C” on the bottom, a detail that nods to Coach’s Signature.

THE PACKAGING

Featuring Coach’s iconic Horse and Carriage logo printed in gunmetal effect, the elegant box is finished with a subtle leather texture—a reference to the house’s heritage in leathercraft.
