Happy Galentine’s Day: February 13th
Of all the holidays throughout the year, there is one we particularly love: Galentine’s Day. This occasion takes place on February 13th year and celebrates women’s friendship and empowerment. It was surprisingly the brainchild of the writing staff for the Parks and Recreation series led by Michael Schur. Many consider Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope as the patron saint of Galentine’s Day.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama recognized this holiday in 2020 with a heartfelt message on here Instagram and TwitterX pages. “This #GalentinesDay, I want to shout out my girlfriends who help me stay sane and grounded through all of life’s ups and downs…Whether we’re catching up over the phone, venting over a cup of coffee, or laughing it out during an 80s-themed workout, I know I can lean on these ladies – and that’s made all the difference.”
Galentine’s Day, the annual festival of sisterhood, is now marked with themed merchandise at stores like Walmart and Amazon. It’s about mutual empowerment…a reminder for women to support and uplift one another.
