An Olfactory Pearl In the Shell

Italian fashion house Moschino has just unveiled a joyful and fresh fragrance for her or him called Toy 2 Pearl. The scent is built around a refreshing lemon sorbet accord that immediately conveys the feeling of a summer vacation. This is reinforced with a unique sand accord that evokes the mood of walking a stretch of white sand along the ocean. What we love about the composition is the use of some unexpected notes: oregano, cypress and a hint of musk.

The Fragrance

Toy 2 “Pearl” opens with the freshness of lemon heart entwined with the heady aroma of oregano and sparkling lemon sorbet. The heart contains the elegance of jasmine with warm notes of sand and freesia transporting the wearer to a sun-soaked island paradise. The base it comprised of the woody sweetness of vetiver, with invigorating accents of cypress, while a touch of musk adds timeless softness. Even better, 99.9% of the ingredients are obtained through green chemistry; 94% of its prime materials are biodegradable and 44% of ingredients are derived naturally. It’s vegan-friendly.

The Perfumer: Domitille Michalon-Bertier

“I thought of lemon sorbet, which brings together freshness, addiction, sunshine and Italian culture,” explains the perfumer. “I wanted to create a sparkling, floral and watery perfume. A timeless yet fun fragrance.”

The Ad Campaign

Supermodel Devon Aoki stars in the whimsical ad campaign playing a glamorous mermaid. She reclines on a shell while holding the iridescent teddy bear bottle. Aoki wears a shimmering pink sequin collared mermaid gown designed especially for the photo shoot.

A Dazzling Bottle

Moschino’s iconic teddy bear-shaped bottle and box are finished in an iridescent onyx lacquer. Each one has a slightly different obsidian sheen pattern to resemble the unique shimmering whorls of natural pearls.
