One of the biggest global trends this year in men’s fragrances is the popularity of “jumbo” sized bottles. These are oversized 200 ml versions of bestselling scents that are wildly popular with guys of all ages and styles.

“Male consumers are much more loyal to their favourite brands and fragrances,” explains one retail expert. “They find a brand and a scent that they love and they stay with it for many years. Women are much more open to trying new fragrances and designer labels. They like to experiment and tend to be less loyal to a particular brand.”

The second reason jumbo sizes have become so popular is the fact that many men prefer to shop more infrequently stocking up when they do. “Guys shop less often than women so they like to stock up on their favourites when they do shop. A jumbo-sized fragrance is quick and easy. And it means they don’t have to shop again for a while,” she adds. And let’s face it, an oversized bottle does look impressive on a bedroom dresser or in a bathroom.
