We’re delighted to give Scent Lodge a sneak peek at a very special fragrance coming to Canada in late March/early April. It’s massively popular with moms and moms-to-be. Here is the fairy tale story behind Bvlgari’s Petits & Mamans.

Perfumer Nathalie Lorson is one of the most talented artists working the field of perfumery today. She has a rare talent of knowing how to perfectly balance notes in her scent compositions. She can take ingredients with very strong personalities and somehow make them all into a seamless creation. Such is the case with her 1997 masterpiece Petits & Mamans for Roman jeweller Bvlgagi.

Petits & Mamans is an ultra-gentle aromatic-floral scent with a powdery character. It is designed for mothers and babies three years and older. Lorson set out to create a fragrance that would delight children and mothers – while being ultra-safe for children to wear. In order to be safe on a child’s skin, the perfumer decided to build the scent around a tea note, which is very gentle. Sicilian orange creates a fresh and bright top note. It is joined by Brazilian rosewood and juicy bergamot. It’s not surprising to see chamomile, sunflower and a hint of rose. Natural peach, vanilla and a little iris extract complete the tender scent. Think of it as having a similar scent to a high quality baby powder.

For those who love a traditional eau de toilette, there is one available in the collection. And there is a delicate body lotion that hydrates and nourishes with a soft scent and a bath gel the lathers up clouds of scented bubbles. Each comes in packaging accented with charming illustrations of teddy bears, rabbits, elegant and lady bugs.

This fragrance has become hugely popular in France where it is often gifted at baby showers, birthday celebrations and holidays. It’s one of the few fragrances specifically formulated for mothers and children in mind. “I love to wear it at work to remind me of my baby throughout the day,” says one fan of the fragrance.
