She Says:

This blur of creamy wood is not quite a dupe for Le Labo’s cult Santal 33 — but the overall effect is the same. Indi’s milky tone is sweeter and lacks a cucumber bite, but it’s similarly swaddling with several musks and white cedar (rather than sandalwood). Wait an hour and it’s exactly the same. And it will be at the end of the day. Remarkable in its consistency, if not originality.  3 out of 4

He Says:

White musk. Black musk. Island musk. Egyptian Musk. And those are just the predominant musks in Perry’s creamy Indi scent for her. There could be more minor musk notes in this floral-woody-musk eau de parfum for all I know. With such a high percentage of musk, you need some brisk notes to give the scent a proper balance. Bergamot with its zesty character is a good idea but I don’t smell it here. Plum has a juicy effect but it is too smooth like the musk so it isn’t really a benefit. Lily-of-the-valley, a note that usually adds a floral kick is sidelined by the layers of musk. This was a good idea on paper but the execution doesn’t live up to the dream. 2 out of 4.

    Your sniff tests are the best part ! Always make me laugh. Wow Nathalie – I’m impressed you gave a 3 out of 4.. thinks that’s the best you’ve given yet !! I’m not huge on musk. Jt I’ll give it a sniff if I see it passing by. 😉

    Your reviews are always terrific and on point. It sounds to me from what Dave says that this fragrance indeed lacks balance. I’ll be passing.

    I think the only way to balance all of the musk notes with a brisk note in this case is to wear it while holding a gin and tonic in one hand and a half a lemon in the other. Lol. 😂

    Sniff Test is my favourite feature, So fun. I think I might like this fragrance, I like the sound of ‘creamy’, I’ll have to check it out. I wonder what Katy is like to work with. She seems very sweet and energetic, like she’d be fun to collaborate with.

    I don’t know why but I am always put off by the word “musk”. Maybe it is too close to musty. lol. I love your reviews and always look forward to reading them.

      Really like & appreciate these sniff tests! One of my weaknesses is perfumes, love to have such great information.
