Stiletto Scent Inspiration: Jimmy Choo

You could say London-based Malaysian shoemaker Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat changed the face of designer footwear thanks to his exquisite handmade shoes. Born in 1948 in the Crown Colony of Penang, British Malaya into a family of shoemakers, Jimmy’s family name was ‘Chow’ but misspelled on his birth certificate at ‘Choo’. Of Chinese descent, his father taught him the craft of making shoes by hand. “My parents were shoemakers and I have followed my father’s lead. He inspired me,” said Jimmy Choo. He made his first pair of shoes when he was 11 years old, a pair of slippers.

Choo enrolled at Cordwainers Technical College in London to learn the modern technological design practices. Following graduation, he worked for two design companies before launching his own company. It was in 1996, when he co-founded Jimmy Choo Ltd with British Vogue magazine accessories editor Tamara Mellon when the brand really took off. Princess Diana was a loyal patron in the early 90s which took the brand to new levels as did extensive coverage in Vogue magazine. In 2001, Choo decided to focus exclusively on the Jimmy Choo couture line produced under license from Jimmy Choo Ltd.

Fast forward to 2020 when Jimmy Choo, now a global luxury lifestyle brand embarked on new fragrance direction with the launch of “I Want Choo”, a global sensation that created such demand the factories had to work 24 hours-per-day to produce enough product.

Fragrance Description: I Want Choo is a sparkling floral-amber fragrance for her the blends notes of velvet peach, mandarine juice, red spider lily, jasmin sambac, vanilla and benzoin (that smells like caramel) It’s a fashionable, spirited scent that will appeal to fashionistas of all ages and styles

Scent Style: a sparkling floral-amber scent for her

The joyful party-themed ad campaign of a trio of friends creating their own fun in a penthouse apartment captured the spirit and mood of the fragrance beautifully.

My youngest daughter who also has tiny feet owns a few pairs of his shoes. I had his shoes in my hands but unfortunately I can’t wear an extra long stiletto heel. His shoes are all beautiful and his fragrances are simply gorgeous on.
