Versace Summer 2022 Collector Backpacks unveiled
Each June, Donatella Versace unveils a collector men’s and women’s backpack design for her fragrance division. Each is sketched, crafted and created in her accessories atelier in Milan where her ready-to-wear collections are produced. Donatella oversees every aspect of the design from the silhouette, fabrics, details and colours – often incorporating elements from the fashion collections. She likes to use the brand’s famous Greek Key motif – often on the shoulder pads – as well as gold-toned zipper pulls and the Medusa emblem.
This is the 15th anniversary of the backpack program and it is more popular now than ever. What’s interesting about this annual gift-with-purchase is Donatella reinvented the category – which at one time offered cheaper quality items designed and produced oversees. She approached these GWPs like she would her designer collections with a similar look and design. It’s an approach that has created a loyal following around the world that eagerly anticipates each new backpack.
