Happy Anniversary, Lacoste!
One of the most iconic French sports fragrances is celebrating an anniversary this month. Lacoste’s L.12.12 Blanc Eau de Toilette is turning 13 and remains just as popular today as it did when it launched. This is an example of a truly great woody-aromatic fragrance that works for all ages and styles.
With more than 700 fragrances launching each year globally, it is a true accomplishment to make the 10-year mark. Less than 10% of new launches will celebrate this milestone.
Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc Eau de Toilette is a fresh woody-aromatic fragrance for him that blends notes of grapefruit, rosemary, and cardamom with ylang-ylang, tuberose, suede, Virginia Cedar, leather and a hint of vetiver. It’s the rosemary that gives this modern classic an uplifting aromatic facet.

Since it is inspired by the famous tennis player, the scent is lighter in concentration which works in warm weather. An edt fragrance contains 8 to 12% essential oils. One spritz will last about 3 hours.
French tennis player Rene Lacoste created his first polo shirt in 1927. It became a global sensation and remains a mainstay today. He was nicknamed ‘Le Croc’ for his fierce playing style. That is why you see the crocodile emblem on every Lacoste item.
So, what does the code L.12.12 refer to? It has a special meaning. The “L” stands for Lacoste, the number “1” symbolizes the ‘petit piqué’ fabric used in the famous polo shirts, ‘2’ represents short sleeves, and ‘12’ is the number of prototypes made before the final product. I would have gotten the L like everyone else but not the 12.12. It still surprises me that 700 new fragrances will launch from all over the world.
