Brunch-worthy Scents

If brunch on a patio is on the agenda for this weekend, Scent Lodge has handpicked four fragrances that will work beautifully for the occasion. When it comes to picking a weekend scent, you want to keep it light and fresh. Save the sexy amber-florals for date night or a dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Brunch is a time to kick-back, relax and have fun with family and friends. Look for light, clean floral fragrances that feature you favourite flowers. You can actually spritz the inside of a ceramic vase to add scent to your table. Light vanilla eau de toilette scents also work for brunch. Just remember that one spritz is the perfect amount. Here are our four choices:

Van Cleef & Arpels Collection Extraordinaire Orchidee Vanille is a an exquisite floral-gourmand scent for her created by perfumer Randa Hammami. She precisely balances notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, sweet tonka bean and bitter almond with mandarin orange, litchi and vanilla orchid. A little white musk and cedar round out the composition.

This light, rose-themed scent for her was composed by perfumer Alberto Morillas who reinvents the classic rose fragrance by layering white flowers such as lily of the valley and jasmine over Bulgarian rose, white incense, sandalwood and musk. The papaya note gives it a hint of the exotic.

Coach Dreams is a fresh fruity-floral scent for her with notes of pear, bitter orange, cactus flower, gardenia and woods. Four top perfumers collaborated on the formula: Antoine Maisondieu, Nathalie Gracia-Cetto, Olivier Pescheux and Shyamala Maisondieu. Each focused on perfecting a specific ingredient.

Ingredients: pear, fruits, bitter orange, gardenia, cactus flower, woods, amboxan

Atkinsons Rose in Wonderland is a sparkling rose floral scent for her or him that blends notes rose dew, black currant buds, geranium and a wonderful Centifolia rose absolute. A base of vetiver and crystal amber adds an elegance. The goal of this scent was to “transform the familiar into the fabulously unfamiliar in a way that is distinctive and intriguing.”

I find that the more I wander into fragrances, the less I am drawn to heavier florals, with gourmands really drawing me instead, so the Van Cleef & Arpels Collection Extraordinaire Orchidee Vanille sounds perfect to me.

All four fragrances sound lovely. I love the idea of spraying the inside of a flower vase with fragrance.
